Follow the leader

After days of solid overcast, a sunny morning. By mid-day it had warmed up to ten degrees F, with a wind chill well below that. These guys don't seem to mind the cold; at least 150 geese plus a few mallards, occasionally dunking for underwater grasses. Every so often one would start honking, others would follow, and they'd lift off for a short flight around the lake, finding a new stretch of open water to feed at, then lounging around on the ice that rimmed the shoreline.
