The griffon vulture is one of the largest birds in Europe, with a wingspan of between 225 and 265 cm and a weight of up to 9 kg, and it is also one of the longest-lived. It is called the griffon vulture because of the cinnamon colour on its neck and abdomen, similar to that of African felines. It is a pity that the name of such a beautiful animal, which is so necessary in its already reduced habitats, is used disparagingly to describe members of our specie.
