On New Years Eve, there was a beautiful display of the development and movement of pareidolic cumulus clouds along the horizon for a few minutes before and three quarters of an hour after sunset. Pareidolia is seeing things that aren’t there - details at https://earthsky.org/human-world/seeing-things-that-arent-there/ . On this occasion a pareidolic bird-shaped cumulus cloud was spotted approaching the setting sun and then moving along the sunset horizon on which several other smaller cumulus clouds later appeared and then grew to exhibit other pareidolic features including the shape of a rat and the profile of a human head with face.
