Stack ‘em High!

Colorado’s vast and Wet Mountain Valley is not only stunningly beautiful but the huge alpine valley - situated between the Rocky Mountains to the West and the Wet Mountains to the East at an altitude of up to 8,000 feet, is actually creating its own weather pattern! In this photo (taken this morning shortly after sunrise with a drone over a distance of about 45 miles) the sky is stacked with spectacular clouds of all shapes and colors (including the always magnificent Lenticular Clouds), reaching many miles high above the horizon and even the almost 14,000 feet high peaks. This extraordinary cloudscape is the result of a clash of air masses with different temperatures.
