Aurora borealis and Sundhnúkur volcanic eruption
On 11/22/2024 11:30 pm by Ewa Zegler-Poleska | Iceland
On November 20, a volcanic eruption began in the Sundhnúkur crater series on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. I was fortunate to be in the area on November 22 to witness both the eruption and the northern lights, capturing a photograph that showcases the interplay of these two phenomena.
Poetically speaking, it felt as if the forces of nature seemed to converse: the Earth’s fiery breath met the celestial glow of the northern lights, with the Moon as a silent observer and the Sun’s distant energy driving the dance.
I’ve attached an image for your consideration and would be delighted to provide further details or other files if needed. Please let me know if you are interested.
