A fairly large mushroom diameter at least 6 inches (15.24 cm} with a squat stipe or stem. Bugs have been eating the cap and the stem.

Having no gills but with sponge like pores, the likely identity is a bolete mushroom.

They say follow the rains during the fall season and one will find all sorts of mushrooms on the soft damp ground. And if you're not certain whether edible or poisonous, best to leave them be.
