Lunar Halo
On 11/16/2024 10:39 pm by Rui Santos| Leiria, Portugal
Last night noticed that the high clouds were allowing to see a Moon Halo, and thought i'd give a try to capturing it up close using an HDR technique.
A moon halo appears as a luminous ring around the Moon, caused by the refraction of moonlight through ice crystals in high-altitude clouds.
These crystals bend the light at a certain angle, creating the halo.
The thin, diffuse nature of these clouds allows light to pass through while slightly separating into colors.
The phenomenon often signals an approaching weather system, making it both a stunning sight and a hint of atmospheric change.
