Nature the Designer

Never seen leaves like this before, found on a path from Main Street, Newbold Verdon, Leicestershire up to the village Recreation Ground & alongside the Baptist Chapel (whose leaders told me they hadn't had any leaf-painting sessions there) on one side and a fence in front of mature beech & other trees opposite. After a day indoors the leaves were darker and a lot more curled up, so must have had quite a bit of moisture still in them when the photo was taken (showing them on a wooden tray under artificial light).
