Flying Ghost Galaxy
On 10/30/2024 07:40 pm by Catherine Hyde| Cambria, CA USA
Just in time for Halloween, this is NGC 520, the Flying Ghost Galaxy. It's actually a stack from 149 300-second images, captured over three nights,
Stellarvue 152mm refractor, Nikon D810A DSLR camera, Astrop-Physics Mach2 tracking mount, guide scope, guide camera, guiding software.
I processed the background separately from the stars in both PhotoShop and PixInsight, stretching and sharpening to get the most detail possible from the galaxy. It;s a mall galaxy that really is best with a bigger scope than mine.
