Eastern Veil Nebula in Cygnus
On 10/19/2024 10:00 pm by Shireen Gonzaga | Cockeysville. Maryland, USA
I visited the Eastern Veil Nebula (NGC 6992), in the constellation Cygnus, last night (19 October ’24). The veil nebula is a remnant of a star that exploded — a supernova — about 5,000-10,000 years ago. It’s a large feature, and this image is only part of it. What you’re seeing is wisps of glowing gas, what’s left of the star. This nebula is about 2,400 light years away.
Nikon Z6II, 400 mmx1.2 (560 mm) focal length, ISO 800, f/6.3, 58x3m exposures (total 2.45 hours). Controlled by ASIAIR mini. Tracked by Star Adventurer GTI.
