Moon occults Saturn
On 10/15/2024 02:05 am by Soumyadeep Mukherjee | Website | Kolkata, India
Right after the midnight on 15th september, moon occulted saturn. This was visible from Asia and Africa, including where I live, India. The disappearance view was stunning and visible with naked eyes. The reappreance, however, was not exciting since saturn was not visible with naked eyes from my location, due to poor seeing. I captured the sequence for 1 hour, starting 30 minutes before disappearance and ending 30 minutes after reappearance.
I took an image every 5 minutes during this period. The trajectory of saturn during the occulation can be figured from the image. A separate set of 200 images were captured 1 hour before the occulation for the lunar disk.
