Comet 2023 A3 through a sucker hole
On 10/13/2024 07:39 pm by David Chapman| Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada
Snagged the comet 45 minutes after sunset, but I was darn lucky to do so. There was a huge bank of clouds in the wrong direction, but they parted just long enough for me to observe the comet in my 12x36 binoculars and take a single photo with my DSLR. The coma is bright, but I had no time to compare it to a star, and there is a tail that could be 5° long but that’s only a guess. The secret to this catch was being totally prepared: I knew exactly where to look and my photo gear was ready.
Canon SL3 with 85 mm kens
Cropped, minor adjustments
