Tail Length 12-15 degrees long.
Not every year you get a comet like this. The last time I remember seeing a comet like this was Neowise of 2020 and even that one in the morning skies or even at its best was not as bright as this one. Took a short drive up on a hill i'd imagine Inland Empire Southern California Bortle is a 7. As soon as I saw Arcturus I immediately picked the comet out and the tail shot up like a mini searchlight. To say I was surprised is an understatement. This thing was HUGE to my naked eye. The comet looked about 15 degrees up when I first detected it with the naked eye as a starlike object with an obvious tail. I had my eyes on it for a full hour tonight. The camera picked it up first then I moments later it popped out like a sore thumb. See it as soon as possible, you can't miss it. Its THAT easy to see with your naked eye. The camera picked most of it up and if you look closely under the coma you can see a VERY faint dust tail going down. Its in other people's photos too so I can confirm thats a real tail as it wraps around the area of the sky. The best part is my photo is only 75mm. I will be going on Monday to Bortle 2 and shooting what I think would be the best night to shoot the comet for its brightness and its tail. It's a VERY cool comet and I would put this in between McNaught and Neowise 2020. It is bigger visually than Neowise was in the morning skies.
