Lunar Occultation of Alcyone

Moon occulted Alcyone and Merope from the California Bay Area point of view this weekend. Other locations on Earth saw other stars of the Pleiades occulted as well. The photograph on the left was taken at 2:14am on September 22nd, 2024 while Alcyone was still visible. The photograph on the right was taken at 3:04am after Moon had covered that brightest star of the Seven Sisters. Merope was hidden behind Moon during both photos.
