Narrow-collared Snail-eating Beetle
On 09/16/2024 05:08 pm by Steve Price| Craig, Alaska on Prince of Wales Island
I'm in Alaska for an annual fishing vacation. Prince of Wales Island is in a temperate rain forest...think Seattle weather on steroids. 12 feet of rain annually.
But after the morning fishing pursuits, I beachcomb, hike explore, etc.
I enjoy all types of animal life including bugs!
This was a new one for me.
The Narrow-collared Snail-eating Beetle (Scaphinotus angusticollis). Pretty cool to me.
More to come including a Rough Skin Next whose defense is a neurotoxin which is 10,000 times more toxic than cyanide. In other words deadly
