Moon and Saturn Exit From Occultation At Moonset
On 09/17/2024 05:22 am by Eliot Herman | Website | Tucson AZ
I had a thunderstorm as the Moon occulted Saturn so the Moon was invisible and gear had to be covered. As Saturn was about to exit occultation a thin band of clearing sky appeared on the SW horizon where the Moon would appear. A quick telescope set up to power up, remove rain covers and a capture of Saturn exiting occultation with the Moon only 2-3 degrees above the horizon, first yellow and then orange colored. Both the Moon and Saturn are distorted by the near horizon into fun house mirror versions.
Captured with a Takashashi 120 mm, 2X Televue Powermate, and a Nikon Z8.
