Stare down

A group of us were doing a bird survey yesterday morning. I spotted this Cooper's Hawk perched and very intently watching for prey. I kept inching closer and although there were a dozen of us, the hawk didn't move. I managed to get within 20' of it at eye level. It turned and saw us and still it didn't flush. I'm not sure if it saw something to go after or it was my close proximity that finally caused it to fly. I think this was the closest I've ever been to a bird of prey.
