Honeybee and Fuchsia
On 09/07/2024 03:57 pm by Cecille Kennedy| Depoe Bay, Oregon
A honeybee, head inside the fuchsia flower, sips nectar. I was hoping a hummingbird would land on the flower but instead the honeybee visited.
The purple vermillion fuchsia flowers are very attractive.
The French monk and botanist Charles Plumier discovered the plant during his travels to the Caribbean and Central and South America. Plumier named the fuchsia in honor of his contemporary, the German physician and botanist, Leonhart Fuchs (1501–1566)
