The Sun Eater

My 8yo niece spotted this “cool cloud” first and then she excitedly ran inside to tell me about this “cool cloud snake” that was eating the sun. I was hesitant, but she was adamant that I needed to see it with my own eyes. I walked outside and looked to the east and nothing but clear skies… until my niece said turn around. And there it was. I was surprised that it was as she described. This photo is what we saw above the Sierra Nevada for a few brief moments. I was lucky enough to capture this unique sight… thanks to my niece.
