Cleared to land Dragonfly Airlines flight 123...
On 08/24/2024 02:26 pm by Randy Strauss| Walnut Creek Lake, Nebraska
The dragonflies that live along the shoreline have now largely died off for the season, but I'm still finding some in the tall grass meadows a few hundred yards upland from the lake. This widow skimmer liked this stalk of grass and as is typical of dragonflies, repeatedly returned to it after hunting. To capture a dragonfly in flight I'll take around a hundred exposures and then sift through them, looking for the one or two that are in focus; these guys are amazingly fast and change direction in a fraction of a second.
