Neptune raising over the Moon
On 08/21/2024 11:50 pm by Paolo Palma | Website | Naples
This is a detail of the Moon at over 400x magnification and that faint dot visible at the top center of the image is the disk of Neptune, the most distant planet in the Solar System.
On the evening of August 21, 2024, the Moon occulted it for a few minutes and when it came out, from the telescope it seemed to rise above the lunar mountain ranges.
The vision and filming of the phenomenon was a small mission impossible due to the strong brightness of the Moon compared to the faint and very small disk of the planet.
Single shot.
