Majesty in motion

I was out photographing dragonflies and damselflies when I noticed this wonderfully colorful Great Blue Heron fishing along a nearby shoreline. After missing a few attempts at catching fish, the heron was disturbed by the sounds of people on a nearby jogging path and took off for another part of the lake. While doing so it flew just above the water and almost directly over me. You appreciate just how big they are (wing span up to six feet) when one flies right over you.
