Perseid Meteor Shower 2024

I headed to Jebel Jais on Monday evening, August 12, 2024, I was invited by Dubai Astronomy Group to attend the Perseid meteor shower event.

‏I was able to observe about 32 meteors with the naked eye, and I was able to photograph 16 of them. About 1000 images were taken that night using the two cameras.

The challenges I faced were choosing the right place to place the imaging devices and also directing the camera, as some of these meteors do not take a fixed path while entering the atmosphere and some of these meteors are small and fast that cannot be monitored, and also the passage of some vehicles with high light that may hinder monitoring.

But the pleasure of monitoring and watching these meteors and their burning as they enter the atmosphere is worth it and travelling long distances.
