the sun eyes

Steady atmosphere permits resolving fine detail in today's sun, in particular light bridges in AR3780 dark cores. The big size of sunspots 3780 and 3784 allows them to be seen without optical aid as 2 eyes in the sun face. It reminds me heavily the pair of still bigger spots AR484 and AR486 back in late october 2003, AR486 unleashed at least three X flares, the most powerful an X28 flare when it was riding the western limb; subsequent analisis of the ionosphere attenuation produced by it make the estimated power go up to the X40-X45 range, the biggest detected ever !
