A sliver of light π among the clouds!
On 08/05/2024 07:11 pm by Adeel Shafiq| Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan
Tonight the moon was just more than a day old and was too low on the horizon to be sighted and due to ongoing monsoon seasons the clouds have been almost everywhere and one could not depend on the weather forecast for sighting conditions. So was the case over western horizon it was covered by dense cloud layer but it started to clear up just in time and I started taking images by locating planet Venus as it was just a few degrees left of the crescent. I kept imaging for roughly 15 minutes but I could not find the crescent with the naked eye nor did I see it in my cameras live view. Only upon stretching I found it in my first few frames as it dipped down behind the cloud layer approaching the end of civil twilight.
Here is a sight that would delight any crescent chaser and moon lover, a mere 1.3% illuminated new moon at 28 hours of age from the western horizons of Lahore, Pakistan.
