Saturn and Moon dancing in the Sky!
On 07/25/2024 01:45 am by Adeel Shafiq| Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan
Last night planet Saturn was in a very close conjunction with the Moon that it almost touched it's limb. There was lunar Occultation of the planet Saturn by the moon in some parts of Asia including China and parts of India. Although the weather was very hazy, humid and difficult to shoot in, I was able to capture the whole sequence by taking multiple images and created this a composite by aligning the moon in the center and showing the position of planet Saturn at different time intervals showcasing the closest approach.
Canon EOS 1300D
Samyang 135mm f2 lens
Ioptron sky tracker legacy series
A composite created by combining 10 images. 9 images were taken every 12 minutes apart with ISO 100, f 5.6, 3.2 seconds for the location of Saturn. While one image was exposed for lunar details with 1 second exposure ISO 100 f 5.6 at 135mm. All images were aligned with moon in the center and Saturn's position as per passage of time from 12:23AM till 02:00AM. Blending was done using Photoshop.
