Smiling?
On 07/19/2024 03:04 pm by Randy Strauss | Walnut Creek Lake, Nebraska
On a very windy afternoon I came across this (judging from the distinctive coloration) youngish female Eastern fork-tail damselfly that had flown into a web and gotten thoroughly entangled. She trashed about and eventually stopped moving. About the time I thought her strength was completely gone and she was toast for sure, she got her second wind, chewed away at the web, extricated herself and after resting, flew on. From time to time I thought I could see her smiling. I guess if I'd just extracted myself from a web I'd smile too.
