The mimosa or silk tree flowers are very attractive and often visited by butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. I love the long delicate flowers with clusters of silky pink threads.
Native to the Middle East and Asia the mimosa tree is believed to have been brought to the United States in the 1700s by Andre Michaux, a French botanist.
