Iridescent Clouds
On 07/21/2024 05:30 am by Shreya Roy| Kolkata, India
Iridescence is caused by the diffraction of sunlight around a thin screen of nearly uniformly sized water droplets that compose mid-level type clouds. Note that because these droplets are so tiny (often hundreds of times smaller than raindrops), refraction of sunlight becomes secondary to diffraction.
