I got word yesterday we had a rare bird in the Malibu Lagoon. The bird normally resides on the East coast, the Gulf coast and down into Mexico. When we get alerts that someone has spotted a rare bird, we try to locate it in the last location reported. I went out this morning and was able to find it and captured many photos of it hunting, with fish in its bill and this photo that I particularly liked. Mostly they are seen in hunting position, crouched down, head forward. I liked this one because it was standing tall. The length of the bird is 23.6 to 27.6".
