Grey Crowned Crane
On 07/07/2024 04:35 pm by Cecille Kennedy| Southern Oregon
What makes the grey crowned crane stand out is the crown of stiff golden feathers on its head. They are native to dry savannah in Sub-Saharan Africa, although they nest in somewhat wetter habitats.
Also called the East African crowned crane, it is the national bird of Uganda and features in the country's flag and coat of arms.
I saw a pair of them in a Southern Oregon wildlife tourist safari.
