Noctilucent Cloud from Rocket Launch
On 07/03/2024 05:35 am by Dennis Pacheco| Siesta Key, FL
Photo was taken from our south dock, which overlooks Little Sarasota Bay lying to the East. The noctilucent cloud was the result of a SpaceX launch from Cape Canaveral around 4:45am today. The vapor trail from the Falcon 9 booster is being illuminated by the sun, which hasn't yet broken the horizon. Also visible in the photo are:
- The waning crescent Moon
- Jupiter (to the immediate right of the Moon)
- Pleiades (the star cluster in the upper right of the photo)
- Capella (a 1st-magnitude star just above the swirling cloud)
