Patience is mandatory when photographing dragonflies. I waited until this one was ready to come back to the same plant time and time again: I could then take my time focusing. This is a Halloween Pennant dragonfly; the pinkish tabs on the wings are a helpful ID feature. I believe it got its name from its orange and black Halloween colors.
