The hydrangeas are here!

I was extremely excited after returning home from a week in Arizona to find my hydrangeas almost in full bloom. We planted this Nikko Blue species because it is one of the few hydrangeas that can change color depending on the ph level of your soil. I add used coffee grinds to turn them more blue, and baking soda to turn them more pink. Eventually, the entire shrub is a mix of blue ( from acidic soil), pink ( from alkaline soil) and purple from neutral soil. Every summer I cannot wait to see what nature has in store. This one shrub is over 6 feet in width and about 5 feet in height producing too many blooms to count!
