Crescent Moon near the Beehive!

On 06/10/2024 09:05 pm by Adeel Shafiq| Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan

Tonight's 18.5% illuminated crescent moon was near the beehive cluster in a close conjunction. The Beehive Cluster aka Praesepe, M44, NGC 2632 is an open star cluster located in the constellation Cancer and is one of the nearest open clusters to Earth, containing around 1,000 stars.

The Beehive Cluster is visible to the naked eye in dark skies and has been known since ancient times. The appearance of the stars in the beehive cluster resembles that of the Hyades star cluster in the constellation Taurus.
