Wildflowers and stock pond

On 05/07/2024 06:18 pm by JOEY MCKAY| Iredell, TX - Bosque County

Hunting wildflowers is like hunting gold. Sometimes you strike a vein and sometimes you strike out. My wife and I spent the first week of May in Kerrville searching the Hill Country and found some nice displays. Then on the way home we headed up US 281 to Hico and then cut over through Walnut Springs and Glenrose into Arlington. There were huge fields of Indian Blankets and Firewheels, but we wanted to get home and didn't stop.

The next few days the area had torrential rainfall, so I headed back down on Tuesday, May 7th. I took a chance to head up a State Highway (SH1238) I had never been on between Cranfills Gap and Iredell, and struck gold with miles and miles and acres and of reds, yellows and oranges. Not only did I get shots with my DSLR, but I had to launch my drone as well to fly through and over the fields. This is a screen capture of the video as I flew over this stock pond nestled in a field of Fire Wheels and Coreopsis flowers.
