Green Heron

A Green Heron landed on a tree in my backyard one evening. It is a striking bird with a velvet-green back, rich chestnut body, and a dark cap often raised into a short crest. It turned it’s head and looked at me quizzically when I was trying to take it’s picture.
The Green Heron is often at the water’s edge at the pond in my backyard and hides amongst the reeds whilst waiting patiently to catch fish with it’s daggerlike bill.
