The red lights of an unforgettable night
On 05/11/2024 12:30 pm by Massimo Tamajo| Siracusa, Italy
Northern Lights / SAR - Syracuse 05/11/2024
It seems like a joke, it seems like a tacky photomontage and yet it's incredibly true.
An epochal event that left the whole of Italy and beyond speechless. Incredible Northern Lights also recorded in Syracuse.
The powerful solar storm caused by the flares of the huge sunspot Ar3664 brings the lights of the aurora to our latitudes. Never seen anything like this in 53 years.
The image was taken at the Murro di Porco lighthouse in the coastal area a few kilometers from Syracuse around 00:30 in the morning of May 11, 2024.
Most likely it is SAR and not the Northern Lights.
