I spent the afternoon digging Cretaceous Period fossil Ammonites on BLM land and then headed south into The Last Chance Desert ( that really is its name ) to get away from enough light pollution to classify as a Bortle Class 1 Dark Sky.

On the drive down Highway 10 near Emery, Utah, I watched the sunset on the west side of the road and the Belt of Venus appeared on the east side.
It only lasts a few minutes...so I did the cell phone out the window capture.

The Belt of Venus is celestial phenomena (also called Venus's Girdle, the antitwilight arch, or antitwilight) is visible shortly before sunrise or after sunset, during civil twilight. It is a pinkish glow that surrounds the observer, extending roughly 10–20° above the horizon. It is named after the belt, sash or girdle which the Roman goddess of love, Venus wore...the same as the Greek goddess, Aphrodite.
