A very difficult shot given the low altitude of about 10 degrees, some marine fog, and city lights. A beautiful appearance of M31 in the frame. Measured magnitude via ASTAP at +7.2 reduced by approximately 5 airmasses (approximately 6.5 real). Celestial coordinates confirming the ephemeris. The cometary appearance was obvious but the tail was not well visible.
Canon 500D, 70 mm FL, 12,800 ISO, f/4.5, 50 1s exposures on a tripod, no tracking.
Calibration with 50 dark frames, 50 bias frames, 50 flat field frames, Deep Sky Stacker on intersection stacking mode. Plate solution via Astrometry.net and ASTAP.
