I was surprised to see a red morph Eastern Screech Owl in same tree hole as the gray morph that I have photographed, and shared with Earth Sky in the past. The Eastern Screech Owl has two color phases, rufous (red) & gray. Rufous individuals live mainly in the south, so we mainly have the gray owls here in NY. They are primarily solitary except during breeding season, & pairs occasionally roost together during winter. Nice to have captured the mating pair, which will result in brownish-gray offspring!
