The western side of the island of Ortigia, the southern part of Siracusa, is called Porto Grande (the Big Harbor), famous for its role in ancient Greek history and later for the war between Carthago and Rome. Archimedes, the mathematician, created his burning mirrors as a part of the defense of the city against the Romans. I took my photo in Porto Grande during a spectacular sunset (as you can see).
