I live in Abisko (northern Sweden), where I work as a Northern Lights Tour Guide during the Aurora season. As it happens, in the last days there has been some beautiful aurora displays, thanks to a steady and high-charged solar wind. But on the 14th though, we also had a particulary cold night. The overall temperature reached -30 degrees celcius during midnight, which overlapped perfectly with the peak of the Geminids, providing great conditions for an astrophotography session.

That night during the tour, we must have seen at least a couple dozen meteors (some of them very long and bright). And therefore, after I finished working, I decided to go back to the location we had spent a few hours aurora gazing with my guests, and commited myself to find a good-looking frame around the frozen birch forest, and photograph some meteors myself.

In the composite image, framed to the north, one can observe a gorgeous Aurora spreding thorugh the sky, and 5 bright shooting stars coming from the south (position of the Gemini Constellation at midnight). There were plenty which I failed to capture, but luckily I got these ones!
