Birders have affectionately referred to this year as “Hot Limpkin Summer.” Normally found in Florida south through South America, vagrant Limpkins have been showing up in over half the states in the Union and even two Canadian provinces. This week, a first for New Jersey was discovered, walking through a residential neighborhood in Monmouth County. Here, it stops among some Thanksgiving decorations making for an interesting image, especially since they’re normally found in wetlands.
