I was out testing on my deck this morning and for some reason pointed my camera almost straight up. To my surprise when I got back in the house I realized that the Andromeda Galaxy was in my pic. It's not very often you see Andromeda in a Milky Way shot, but there it is!

To imagine this view stand looking north at 3am in Colorado (latitude 39' 30" N). The camera is slightly pointed north & west but more or less straight up. Cygnus is the constellation in the middle of the Milky way shot. The trees in the pic are the tops of some aspen near my house.

What a joy that Andromeda came out so clearly at 8 seconds. This is the only shot I have personally taken of the Milky Way with Andromeda in it. I did a little more work on this pic to enhance the red. If you zoom in you can now see the North American Nebula more clearly. In this view it is upside down.

Canon R astro modified using Visible + HA filter.
Sigma 20mm Art @ f1.4 for 8 seconds with ISO6400.

Affinity Photo 2 to develop raw file for color correction (only minor adjustments made).
