I noticed the orange stripes on the Sun as it was setting on the marine layer over the ocean horizon. This camera image shows a couple of sunspots, there is another sunspot (top left) over the 2 prominent ones in the other photos that I took.

Our Earth will be farthest from the Sun at its aphelion point on July 6, 2023 at the distance of about 94,506,364 miles. In Google the current distance is 94.509 million miles. Aphelion occurs two weeks after the June solstice. Conversely two weeks after the December solstice, on January 2, 2024, at its perihelion point, Earth is closest to the Sun at a distance of about 91,404,095 miles. The average distance from Earth to the Sun is about 93 million miles (150 million kilometers).
