This past week I ventured off to the Very Large Array (VLA), part of the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) in Socorro, New Mexico. It was an incredible sight; seeing 27 massive dishes emerge amidst the Plains of San Agustin in the heart of the Wild West. Advanced techniques in radio astronomy continue to be some of the most fundamental ways in which we are able to better understand our universe and even search for the possible signals of intelligent life far, far away.
