Ballona Freshwater Marsh is a stopping off point for many migratory birds as well as having resident birds. It is in the Los Angeles area less than one mile from Santa Monica Bay. Due to the heavy rains we've had in California, there are fields adjacent to the marsh that flooded. The water has receded somewhat but there is still enough that shore birds and ducks are there and finding no shortage of food in the form of invertebrates and some small fish.
