A supernova can rival a galaxy nucleus or even a galaxy in brightness. Supernova 2023ixf is not yet as bright as the M101 nucleus but it is getting closer. Already amazing, the supernova of a decade it might still rise in brightness. This is a high resolution image of 1 h total integration with a large telescope with 30 x 120 sec. The reported magnitude in AAVSO submissions at time of the capture was 11.1.
