The Fishhook Cacti are blooming!
This species is Sclerocactus parviflorus, which is Latin for Small flower Fishhook cactus. Although the direct translation for sclero is "fierce". These guys not only poke you with their spines, they also grab and don't let go with their hooks. I can attest to confirm the well earned name.
